The Langley Speedway Fan Club, known as "The Fan Club" to Langley fans and
management, is chartered under Section 5013c of the State Gaming Commission
as a nonprofit organization. The purpose of the Fan Club is to raise funds to
support charitable causes. Some of the causes supported include; children and
and families suffering from illnesses or other crisis, the American Cancer Societies
Relay For Life Teams, the Victory Junction Gang Camp, the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Fund, several local youth and adult fund raising campaigns, Thanksgiving
food baskets, and Christmas toys, clothes, trees and food for in need families.
The Fan Club is managed by President Jim Hicks, Vice President W.H. "Tom" Carroll,
and Secretary/Treasurer. Also, part time help includes Anna Morris and a group of very
energetic and dedicated students from the Newport News Shipbuilding Apprentice
School Student Association.
The Fan Club relies relies on income from its weekly 50/50 raffles, race program sales and donations. Everyone helping The Fan Club is strictly a volunteer and does so for the enjoyment of helping
Langley Speedway fans are some of the most generous fans found anywhere. It is not
unusual for a fan winner to go home with several hundred dollars on any given Saturday
night. That means The Fan Club can help someone be more comfortable as well because
of the fans generous giving.
