Hampton, VA – Asset Auto Recovery, minority owned and locally operated towing and recovery company, continues to expand its partnership with Larry King Law’s Langley Speedway as they become the presenting partner for the 2022 season-ending King of the Hill competition. However, this is more than just a growing opportunity for Asset Auto Recovery’s owner Ashlee Hall, it’s a bit of a homecoming.
“My heart lies with Wacky [Wednesday],” Asset Auto Recovery owner Ashlee Hall said. “I raced out there when I was younger, it is actually where I got my nickname Hall Ash from, so when the opportunity was presented it felt like it was meant to be.”
King of the Hill is a double-elimination style tournament. Much like you currently see with the Little League World Series about to wrap up in Williamsport. Drivers from all around the seven cities will bring all types of cars from grocery-getting minivans to track-ready street cars to line up and compete on track to prove who in fact has the fastest car, quickest reaction time, most skilled driver, or maybe just the best negotiation skills. The greatest equalizer; the track will be split into two lanes and drivers can negotiate car lengths for the start of the race.
“To help make this event the biggest it has been since it was introduced was something that really spoke to me,” Hall went on to say. “Not only does it allow us, car people, a chance to get together and see each other’s hard work but we finally have a place to put our hard work to the test and not have to worry about getting run out of a parking lot. Not to mention with the addition of the new light system these competitors get to feel special and compete under something most of the racing community will never experience.”
This year’s king of the hill competition will be nothing like those in the past. Drivers will not only be competing for a chance at $500 in cash but a brand new customized trophy along with other a plethora of additional prizes to be announced in the coming days leading up to the event.
“We really wanted to do something special for our drivers this year,” newly appointed Wacky Wednesday Director Justin Kern said. “What better way than to bring on a former racer who now owns her own auto recovery company? Ashlee shares that same passion I do when it comes to not only Langley Speedway as she currently sponsors the HRKC Pro Wing Champs on Saturdays but also the love for Wacky Wednesday. Also, not sure how many people know how many Saturday night racers have cut their teeth at Wacky Wednesday at some point or another. I wanted to make this their Hampton Heat. An event so big drivers from all over the state will make the trip. We are continuing the $500 prize to the winner but this year we have more surprises up our sleeves to hopefully drive car counts up.”
The King of the Hill competition will be capped at 100 cars, consists of just head-to-head racing, and only one driver per vehicle will be allowed. Registration will be $15 per driver and regular head-to-head Wacky Wednesday rules will apply. Registration will open at 6:00 PM EDT with the first race going on track at 7:30 PM.

Wacky Wednesdays is the premier midweek street car racing event at Larry King Law Langley Speedway. Street legal cars with current state inspection and registration are eligible to compete under the lights for a weekly trophies, cash pay outs, and a shot at becoming a Langley Speedway Champion. Registration and spectator gates open at 6 PM with the drivers meeting just after 7 PM and the competition beginning shortly after. Racing is usually complete by 10:00, providing great family fun on a weeknight while still ending at a decent hour. Coolers are allowed in the grandstands during the events.
