Kenslie Wilson Set to Defend Her Big Wheel Race Championship This Saturday on Kids Night

Hampton, VA – Stock car racing is not the only thing heating up this weekend in Hampton Roads as some of the best Taylor Waste Service Late Model Stock Cars return to Larry King Law’s Langley Speedway. Some of the fastest kids on three wheels are fresh out of school and ready to hit the pavement for another shot at Dale Lemonds Victory Lane.

With summer officially here Langley Speedway will celebrate the accomplishments of kids from all around the area this weekend. Kids 12 years and younger will receive a free ticket to the grandstands with an accompanying adult. Back by popular demand this year is yet another big wheel race to be held on the front stretch to kick off the evenings events. Kids between the ages of three and six are invited to bring their very own big wheel out to the races this weekend and compete in a five lap challenge on the front stretch to see who is the fastest kid in town. Parents, please visits www.langley-speedway.com under the events tab for official rules and registration form.

Kenslie Wilson, 5 years old from Hampton, VA and daughter of NASCAR Official Brian Wilson and former Ticket Office employee Kellie Wilson, is looking forward to defending her Big Wheel Race Championship this weekend as competition returns. In one of the largest fields in recent history last year Wilson took the lead of the five-lap sprint race early and never looked back as kids from all over Hampton Roads tried to chase down her red number twenty-three Big Wheel. However, Wilson was on all but cruise control speeding down the straights and navigating the tight corners with ease. The cherry on top of collecting her first official win, however, was receiving that first checkered flag from her father and flagman, Brian Wilson!

“[It felt] Good,” Wilson said about her victory last summer. “I liked it. I want to win again!”

Wilson, who has all but grown up on the grounds of hallowed grounds Langley Speedway, says she enjoys her time in Art class during school hours, eating popsicles at the race track with her parents and friends, and going to as many birthday parties as she possibly can.

Following the on track awards ceremony in Dale Lemonds victory lane race fans will then enjoy six divisions of racing from Late Model Stock Cars down to INEX Bandoleros. Gates are set to open at 2 PM with qualifying at 4:30 and the drop of the green flag around 7:00 PM following the invocation and national anthem. All Big Wheel competitors and their guardians should meet at the large flower bed near the main entrance of the speedway at 6:00 PM. For more details please visit www.langley-speedway.com
