Larry King Law’s Langley Speedway and Dominion Raceway announced the debut of the 1st annual Virginia Racers Championship Series today. This series will consist of two Virginia Racer features at each track with a purse being paid out to the top 5 in points following the conclusion of the series. The 1st two races in this series will also count towards NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series Division III National points.
The 1st race will take place on August 24th with a 100-lap feature on Shawn Balluzzo Memorial Race Night presented by Smiley’s Heating and Cooling. The previously scheduled 100-lap event for the Langley Modified division will now be 48 laps in memory of Shawn Balluzzo and count towards track points and payout its normal purse for a 50-lap feature.
The series will then move onto Dominion Raceway in Thornburg, Virginia for its 2nd race, a 150-lap feature, on September 7th. To avoid conflicts, Langley Speedway will be dropping its Virginia Racers feature from its schedule on that same night to encourage all competitors to race at Dominion.
From there, the series will stay at Dominion Raceway for the 3rd race on October 5th with a 118-lap feature, in honor of its exit number off of I-95.
The series will then conclude at Langley Speedway on October 26th with a 100-lap feature during its Halloween Speedfest presented by Hampton CVB. Both the payout for each race in the series and the purse for the top 5 in points following the series will be determined in the coming days. For Langley Speedway’s August 17th event, the Virginia Racers will now run twin 35’s.
