Hampton, VA – Front-wheel drive racing has been a staple at Larry King Law’s Langley Speedway for more than a decade. It is usually a stepping stone for young drivers coming up from the kart club to get a feel of a full-body race car. It is a way for up-and-coming drivers to make a name for themselves. Not to mention it is one of the more affordable options racers have today.
Suffolk, Virginia’s Christian Keller is doing just that in the UCAR division – making his name known. Keller has ended a lot of his Saturday nights in Dale Lemonds victory lane. Twelve times, five in 2021 and seven in 2022, to be exact over the last two race seasons. The young driver needed each and every one of those wins this year as long-time Langley competitor Bill Eaker did not go down without a fight.
“It means a lot to get seven wins this year and to win another championship and to get back-to-back championships,” Keller said. “A lot of long nights and hard work to get here and it’s paid off! Super blessed.”
Keller started 2022 in much of the same fashion as he ended the year before – in victory lane. Winning the first two weekends of the year followed by two runner-ups and two more victories Keller entered the heat of the summer with an amazing 1.333 average finishing position. He would need that cushion come late July and early August when he collected his worst finish on the season after he and another competitor made contact forcing Keller into the backstretch wall. He would score no points the following week as electrical issues kept him from even taking the green flag. Keller would rebound and finish the season with one third place and a hat trick of wins.
“To be able to have my wife and newborn baby with me along the way has been the best part of it all,” Keller explained. “We will be moving up to the Super Streets in 2023 and try our hand at that. See if we can find our way back into victory lane there because there is some really good competition to beat.”
Two-time Farley Financial UCAR champion Christian Keller, along with the rest of the UCAR division and eleven fellow track champions, will be on hand Friday, January 13th, 2023 to celebrate all of their hard work this past season. Tickets for this annual event held at the Hampton Roads Convention center are available for purchase now by calling the office Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM at (757) 865-7223.
