King of the Hill Returns To Wacky Wednesday For 2022 In Largest Show to Date

Hampton, VA – For the first time in 2022 eight of the best Wacky Wednesday drivers prepare to square off in a single elimination bracket to determine who has the fastest machine in the first month and a half of the season.

Seven of the total eight spots have been filled so far with various feature, time attack winners, and a coveted 2022 rookie invite. The eighth and final spot will be up for grabs tonight if a new winner is to emerge out of the A or B main. Should a repeat winner occur Wacky Wednesday officials will extend an invite to the fastest driver from time attacks not already qualified. New to the monthly King of the Hill competition this year will be preset seeding and race order – complete bracket can be found below. Drivers will be seeded by Wacky Wednesday officials which will put emphasis on winning throughout the month. When it comes to One-on-One racing, especially the King of the Hill one name should immediately come to mind – Newport News, Virginia native Tug Arnold. The winningest KOH driver from 2021 enters tonight a mere three points ahead of teammate Rick Stott and will be the number two seed going into tonight’s event. That however has not stopped the driver of the No.22 Integra from striving for victory lane.

“Tonight is going to be very hard to negotiate,” Arnold said when asked about the keys to victory tonight. “Everyone is going to want to negotiate to win. However, as long as I have good lane choice and a fair matchup my odds are pretty good. The best of three final certainly does help especially if I end up on the inside.”

Tug, however, will have his work cut out for him as he will have to work his way through the likes of Donovan Jewell and Mitchell Powers who have both been on their games this year and running in the top six in time attacks as well as making at least the semi-finals on a weekly basis. Assuming Arnold can work his way through those races he will still have to deal with the likes of Rick Stott, who some may argue is the odds on heavy favorite tonight.

“When Rick and I race we know our fair stagger and it comes down to whoever makes the mistake on track,” Arnold said in regards to racing his teammate. “Normally when we race against each other he doesn’t spray [nitrous] but tonight it has already been negotiated that he will be on the ‘juice’ tonight when he races me.”

Tug will not only attempt to take over the Time Attacks points lead while defending his One-on-One lead, Tug will also make an insane attempt in defeating a full blown, high powered, light weight Saturday night Modified. Former Wacky Wednesday competitor and now Larry King Law Modified competitor Shawn Adkins has been itching to go against the small four cylinder to see who can get around Langley Speedway the fastest. Tonight, both racers get their wish with nothing more than bragging rights and a good time up for grabs.

“Shawn has wanted this race since I had my old black car,” Arnold said. “I think he just wants a win. I have beat him too many time and he wants to show off. I like the idea of a good show for the crowd. I will not be upset of the outcome either way, I just want a good race and a good show.”

Keeping with the Saturday night cross-over theme Wacky Wednesday competitors and fans alike are in for a treat to cap off the evening as the Parts Barn Enduro series has been placed on the card for a 30-lap new winners feature event. Any driver who competes in the Enduro’s on Saturday night at Larry King Law’s Langley Speedway and has yet to find victory lane will have the chance to do so tonight and take home a cool $250.

Registration and general admission grand stands will open at 6:00 PM tonight with the first green flag set to wave approx.. 7:20 PM. Pit Passes are available for $15, Tickets available online and at the box office for $7. For more information please visit www.langley-speedway.com.
