Larry King Law’s Langley Speedway Announces Partnership with Advanced Technology Institute for Wacky Wednesday GT Class Trophy

Hampton, VA — Larry King Law’s Langley Speedway is thrilled to announce a new partnership with the Advanced Technology Institute (ATI) for the highly anticipated Wacky Wednesday racing series. This collaboration celebrates the launch of the brand-new GT class and the creation of a unique championship trophy, designed and crafted by the talented students from ATI’s esteemed welding program.

As part of this exciting partnership, ATI students were invited to design and build a custom trophy for the inaugural GT class champion. After rigorous evaluations by ATI instructors, Ben Cronkite’s exceptional piece was chosen as the final trophy design. This initiative not only showcases the creative and technical skills of ATI’s students but also underscores the importance of practical, hands-on experience in their education.

“We are excited to collaborate with ATI and provide their students with an opportunity to apply their skills in a real-world project,” said Langley Speedway officials. “Ben Cronkite’s trophy is a testament to the high-quality training and creativity fostered at ATI.”

The Advanced Technology Institute, located in Virginia Beach, offers comprehensive technical training in various fields, including welding technology. ATI’s welding program is renowned for its hands-on learning approach, providing students with the knowledge and skills needed for careers in maritime and industrial welding. Students receive training in multiple welding processes and materials, and many earn American Welding Society (AWS) certifications as part of their curriculum  (ATI)  (Auto.edu) .

Looking ahead, the partnership between Langley Speedway and ATI will continue into at least 2025. Students will again have the opportunity to design and build the championship trophy. This time, the top three designs will be selected by instructors, and the final choice will be made through a fan vote on social media, adding an exciting new element of community engagement.

Wacky Wednesday at Langley Speedway is a local fan-favorite event, featuring a variety of fun and competitive racing classes. The addition of the GT class and the unique student-designed trophy are set to make this season’s series more thrilling than ever.
