Hampton, VA — The winter months are gone and the wait is all but over. The 2023 racing season will soon be underway at Larry King Law’s Langley Speedway and it will do so with the help of Richmond Raceway’s first female President, Mrs. Lori Waran.
Waran, a Richmond native who started her career in Washington D.C. working for Sodexho Marriot for eight years, will serve as the honorary starter for the Taylor Waste Services Late Model Stock Car division’s first race of the season.
“We love when our friends from NASCAR visit us on race days,” Media Relations Director Justin Kern expressed. “Really shows how committed NASCAR and our sister tracks really are to the weekly program. Anytime we can get them involved with what we are doing here at Langley Speedway is a great thing. To have her up on our flag stand essentially waving the green flag on the 2023 season is spectacular.”
Prior to her role with Richmond Raceway, Mrs. Waran moved to her hometown of Richmond, Virginia where she joined Auto Trader and jump-started her nearly twenty-year career in the media and communications industry. In 2006 Waran was chosen to lead the way for Richmond-based media company, Style Weekly Media, as one of the youngest publishers of an alternative weekly in the United States at the time. Maintaining that role for roughly fifteen years. Growing an audience base and leading innovative practices is second nature to Waran which she will take with her into office as President at Richmond Raceway in 2023 and beyond.
Be sure to witness Ms. Waran drop the green flag on the 2023 season this Saturday for Pepsi Opening Night. Grandstands will open to the general public at 2 pm. Qualifying will begin shortly after 3 pm and racing will start two hours earlier all April long at 5 pm.
