The excitement is building as Ryley Music and Chris Horton Jr. gear up to compete in the highly anticipated third installment of the Battle of the Stars at New River All American Speedway. This thrilling race will consist of 131 laps under NASCAR Late Model Stock Car (LMSC) rules, with a grand prize of $10,000 awaiting the winner.
Ryley Music, who has a special connection to New River, shared his enthusiasm for the upcoming race: “Man, New River is just a beat track; I ran my first late model race there. It’s cool to be going since and see how much I progressed.”
With the decision to move up to the Late Model division next year Music expressed that growth was a major driving factor in competing this weekend.
“The biggest part of going was racing in a different environment,” Music said. “Getting comfortable at tracks outside of home, and see if we can compete with the upper guys. Just want to go have fun and hopefully bring my first check back to my home crowd. I’m sure we will have fun and run decent—confident in my crew and myself. Let’s go try to win it!”
Chris Horton Jr. echoed the sentiment of trying something new, stating, “We decided to try something new. New River is one of the next closest tracks to home. Thanks to my dad, we came out here a few weeks ago and thought it was a neat place. We hope to run up front and be there at the end.”
The Battle of the Stars has a rich history, with past winners including racing legends Josh Berry and recent CARS Tour Champion Brenden Queen. Notably, Brenden’s former crew chief, Phil Warren, who guided him to three Langley Speedway championships, is Ryley Music’s grandfather and current crew chief, adding a personal touch to the competition.
Fans can expect an exhilarating two day showdown starting this Friday and Saturday (11/15 & 11/16) as Ryley Music and Chris Horton Jr. aim for victory in this prestigious event. With both drivers motivated and eager to prove themselves, the Battle of the Stars promises to be a highlight of the racing season. Race fans can tune in on BigSports.tv
