Troy McBee of McBee Studios Named Official Photographer for Wacky Wednesday in 2023

Hampton, VA – Larry King Law’s Langley Speedway, ‘Where Legends are Born,’ is excited to announce the first of many additions to the 2023 Wacky Wednesday program by welcoming Troy McBee onboard as the official track photographer for its exciting mid-week program.

“We are really taking a hard look at Wacky Wednesday this off-season,” Wacky Wednesday Director Justin Kern said. “Ways to make the competition even better for the drivers and the show that much more spectacular for the fans. One of the first things we thought about after seeing the positive numbers with all the hype from the 2022 Asset Auto Recovery King of the Hill was media presence. We have to find a way to get these drivers’ faces, names, and downright awesome cars out to the public. Langley Speedway is truly a place where legends are born and filled with passionate talent and we saw that in Troy towards the end of this season.”

McBee, a 25-year-old native of Casper, Wyoming and currently calling Virginia Beach home, comes to Langley Speedway with more than five years of photography experience shooting anything from portraits, nature shots, concerts, birthdays, and now motorsports. McBee, however, has spent the last four years of his photography career focusing more on his growing passion — cars.

“I am originally from Wyoming and got started in the photography world following my senior pictures in high school when my grandmother gifted me my first camera, a Canon SX530 Powershot,” McBee explained. “It was super simple yet a perfect camera to learn the fundamentals. I ended up taking a photography class my senior year of high school and have been self-taught ever since.”

Since making the move to Hampton Roads and visiting Langley Speedway McBee has shifted his focus onto car/motorsports photography stating he has always been into the car scene just never had the exposure like he is able to get here.

“The car scene is far more impressive than back home in Wyoming,” McBee said. “Back home there were a lot of off-road type vehicles. Here there are car meets just about everywhere and even different events right here at Langley Speedway. Throughout the year I have been able to shoot all kinds of car meets, drift shows, stock-car events, and of course the racing here at Wacky Wednesday. It has really given me the opportunity to not only hone my skills but branch out and try new styles and events, it’s exciting.”

By day, McBee is an Audio Visual Technician at a local Audio/Data Networking company while also doing social media management on the side in his free time. However, by night – Wednesday nights that is – McBee will be up and down pit road capturing all of the action in both still and video form to share with drivers, crews, and of course the Wacky Wednesday fans. McBee Studios will be the first and only officially licensed photographs to be sold on the property. Check out McBee Studio on Facebook and Instagram to connect and request any pre-season photos. An announcement will be made later in 2023 where official photos may be purchased.

Wacky Wednesday will start back up with street legal time attacks and oval-style drag racing in May 2023. Be sure to pay attention to www.langley-speedway.com for any official announcements. Additionally, tune into the Wacky Wednesday Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram channels for special announcements as they become available over the winter.
