Ryley Music to be Honored as Rookie of the Year and Virginia Racers Champion at the 2022 Banquet

Hampton, VA – It is not too often the Rookie of the Year honors, and the division title is awarded to the same driver in the same year. However, in true ‘Where Legends are Born’ fashion, that will be the case once again, the fourth time in five seasons and the first since Louise Pasderetz took home both titles in the Truck division in 2020, this time to the grandson of a Langley Speedway Legend – Ryley Music

Still too young to even drive himself to the racetrack on race days the fourteen-year-old Norfolk native showed Hampton Roads just what it meant to be a race car driver behind the wheel of his number forty-seven Smiths Wraps & Graphics Virginia Racer. Making the rather large jump from the INEX Bandolero division Music faced plenty of scrutiny and difference of opinion as to if the move was too quick. Those thoughts and doubts were all put to rest when Music opened the season with four straight wins and showcased some of the best bumper-to-bumper racing of the season.

“[This] means a lot,” Music said about winning not only the title but the Rookie of the Year honors. “I didn’t expect to win a single one of these things and to get seven in one year is amazing. I have to say, iRacing really helped prepare me for that jump from Bando’s to a Late Model style car. We just hope that we can go out there and back up last year’s performance with another championship.”

Ironically Music picks up seven wins in his first season in a Late Model style car. The same record number of Late Model Stock Car championships his grandfather and legend himself Pill Warren has at Langley Speedway. Additionally, it happened to be in the same number car that both his grandfather and uncle, Anthony Warren, drove for so many years around the famed 0.395-mile oval.

“[This really] makes him feel like he’s accomplished what he’s wanted,” Music commented on giving his grandfather his second championship of 2022 as a Crew Chief and fourth title in just three years. “However, he still wants to win a Late Model Stock Car championship with me and he wants that more than anything I think.”
